The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a big decision on the Popular Front of India (PFI). On Tuesday (September 27, 2022), the Center declared the PFI, its members, affiliated organizations and fronts an illegal association with immediate effect for five years.
Apart from this action from the Centre, eight more organizations have also been whipped for the terror link. According to media reports, these include Rehab India Foundation (RIF), Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imam Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women’s Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and others. On Wednesday (September 28, 2022), BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla said, “PFI is a terrorist organization. This is the avatar of Simi. Many governments have said this thing. At the same time, VHP leader Vinod Bansal said that a ban on an organization like PFI was necessary; I would say that it is late but it should come.
