Ashwin missed a flight to England after a positive test for COVID-19, a BCCI source said.

Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has yet to travel with his teammates to the UK for a one-off “fifth test” after testing positive for COVID-19, according to a BCCI source. Ashwin is currently in quarantine and will join the team only after all protocol requirements have been met. The Indian team left the United Kingdom on June 16.

“Ashwin did not travel with the UK team because he was positive for COVID-19 before he left. But we hope he recovers before the Trial game begins on July 1,” a BCCI source said. PTI in terms of anonymity. “However, he could have missed a training match against Leicestershire,” the source added.

The rest of the team is already in Leicester and has started training under the supervision of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer arrived in London after the T20 match against South Africa and will travel to Leicester on Tuesday.

The team heading to Ireland under VVS Laxman will fly to Dublin on June 23 or 24 because the team members are given three days off.
