Washington: American cabaret artist and actor Bill Cosby was found guilty in 1975 of sexually assaulting a woman, Judy Ruth, when she was a teenager. A Los Angeles jury of eight women and four men ruled in favor of Ruth. The CNN report found that Cosby was responsible for the damage.
The jury ordered the cabaret artist to pay $ 500,000 million in damages. However, no criminal damage was found. Ruth filed a complaint against Cosby for sexual harassment at the Playboy Mansion in 2014 when she was 16 years old.
According to the original report, Huth admitted that the incident occurred in 1974, when he was 15 years old. However, when the timeline changed to 1975, he was found to have been attacked when he was 16 years old. In her complaint, Ruth claimed that she, and according to CNN, met her friend Cosby while the actor and comedian were filming in the park.
After making friends with the two teenagers, Cosby asked her to accompany him to his tennis club. Huth confessed from the club that Cosby had taken them into the house and sometimes served alcohol to underage girls.
Later, the 84-year-old took the teenager to the Playboy Mansion. Huth claimed that despite knowing the age of the two young women, Cosby had taught them, “that if any of the Playboy rabbits asked about their age, they would say he was 19.”
In addition, Cosby ordered her to the room where she was sexually assaulted, CNN said.
However, the actor denied all allegations of sexual abuse through his lawyers.
Cosby’s lawyers also tried to postpone the case. In the past, more than 50 women have accused Cosby of sexual abuse. The American actor was also convicted of sexually assaulting Andrey Constand in Philadelphia, which led to her conviction and three-year imprisonment in the state of Pennsylvania, CNN reported.
However, after her appeal, her sentence was abolished and in September 2021 she was released from prison. Judy Ruth’s civil case was tried first.
