Drupadi Murmu, NDA presidential candidate, receives Z + security coverage

NEW DELHI: The center provided Z + security coverage to CRPF orders of NDA presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, officials said on Wednesday. The armed team seized the safety of 67-year-old Murmu early Wednesday morning, a senior PTI official said.

BJP President JP Nadda announced the candidacy of Murma, the leader of Odisha’s governor serving as governor of Jharkhand, at a press conference on Monday evening after a meeting of the party’s parliamentary council, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders.

Shortly after the announcement, officials said the Union Department of the Interior had ordered the Central Reserve Police Corps (CRPF) to deploy its VIP security team to oversee Murm’s security.

Tribal leader and former governor Jharkhand Draupadi Murmu Zvolen will be India’s first tribal president. He is a former governor of Jharkhand and a former minister of Orissa.

The NJ, led by the BJP, declared Drupadi Murmu its presidential candidate on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Congressman Jairam Ramesh has announced that former Finance and Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha will be the most prominent candidate of the opposition parties in the presidential election on July 18, 2022.

Murma is likely to submit his nomination on June 25, according to ANI. The deadline for nominations for the presidential election is June 29.
